Napoli, Liverpool, Arsenal, AC Milan, Inter Milan all took their turns in beating Bayern Munich during their pre-season campaign and except for Arsenal, who won through penalties, all the other scores had at least a difference of 2 goals.
The first real competition which the present German Champions played was the German Super Cup against their local rivals Borussia Dortmund and they won through penalties. After a 2-2 draw during the normal time, the game went straight to penalties which Bayern Munich won 5-4.
Bayern Munich played the game without some of their key players like Manuel Neuer, Thiago Alcantara, Jerome Boateng and Arjen Robben, not forgetting their new signing James Rodriguez. But still they managed to win the trophy.
Anyways, Carlo Ancelotti is no stranger to having a terrible pre-season and changing the tides when the season actually starts. While at Real Madrid, the coach had a terrible 2014-15 pre-season, but went on to win the Champions League that year.
If there is one thing which is certain, it’s the fact that Bayern Munich have one of the most complete squads in Europe at the moment…at least on paper. Lets wait and see how the fare as the season progresses.
